Safety Week for SRR Schools October 5 - 9, 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School will be observing Safety Week October 5 - 9. Throughout the week, students and staff will participate in several safety drills designed to help everyone understand and practice the appropriate response to different emergency situations.

During Safety Week, students will participate in the following drills:

• Fire Drill – Students and staff will practice safely exiting the building and gathering at designated locations.

• Lockdown Drill – Students and staff will practice procedures for responding to a potential threat inside or near the school.

• Evacuation Drill (Rally Point Walk) – Students and staff will practice evacuating the school and walking to an alternative location away from the building.

These drills are an important opportunity for students and staff to practice safety procedures in a calm and structured environment. Staff will prepare students for each drill and provide age-appropriate information about the purpose and expectations.

SRRMS will also partner with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies throughout Safety Week. Police officers and fire department personnel may be present during some of the drill procedures to support the school’s safety planning and response practices. Their involvement provides an opportunity for school staff and local emergency responders to practice working together in the event of an actual emergency.

We also ask families and community members to use extra caution when driving near the school during Safety Week. At times, you may see groups of students and staff outside the building or walking together to an alternative location. Please slow down, remain alert, and follow directions from school staff or other personnel assisting with traffic and student movement.

Our goal is to make these drills as relevant as appropriate while ensuring students feel safe and supported throughout the process. We appreciate your partnership as we continue to prepare our students and staff to respond appropriately in a variety of situations.

Thank you for helping us make safety a shared responsibility at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School.
